When working in schools, I welcomed feedback from the children I taught, their parents, my colleagues and external inspectors. This helped me to recognise and build on my strengths and identify aspects of my work that would benefit from further professional development. Latterly, the regularity and volume of feedback I have received has increased considerably due to the heightened significance of module and course evaluations by students in the higher education sector. The reaction to my module teaching by students has been overwhelmingly positive, even effusive at times, and this assessment of my work has resulted in the awards listed in the final section of the website.

For this section, I offer other reviews of my work from those who have witnessed me ‘in action’.

Designs powerful learning experiences

“Stewart is an educationalist who really does know how to design powerful learning experiences for people of all ages. Stewart understands the balance of formal design planning along with the need for creative choreography. I have always been thrilled to work with Stewart on learning design issues. Over many years Stewart has won many awards and much recognition for his experience design skills, and I would recommend engaging Stewart if you require your experience design to be of a high standard.”

Professor Colin Beard (Professor of Experiential Learning, Sheffield Hallam University)

Fosters brilliant student relationships

“Stewart fostered brilliant student relationships that inspired students to achieve beyond what they imagined. He was ever more adventurous in preparing his plans and materials, and often brave strategies, to engage students. In this sense Stewart was consistently a pioneer in our team. He recognised the importance of pedagogy but also the need to make it real, dynamic, and impactful.”

Dr Phil Crowther (Business Manager and former colleague)

Develops transferable skills

“It has been a privilege to be able to document some of Stewart’s learning experiences over the past few years. The well thought out and engaging sessions really inspire learners, having been contextualised to complement their knowledge and experiences. Using aspects of popular culture to help learners connect the dots and develop transferable skills, students see the value in the sessions and how these skills help their academic practice.”

Jason Ruffell (Technology Enhanced Learning Adviser, Sheffield Hallam University; Digital Learning Developer, Durham University)

Generates deep understanding

“I highly recommend Stewart as an exceptional educator and mentor. I had the privilege of being his student at Sheffield Hallam University so I have witnessed his commitment to improving the learner experience firsthand. Stewart’s creative approach generates deep understanding and enjoyment of learning and his passion for learning and engaging people makes him an invaluable asset to any organisation.”

Emily Bush (Fundraising Manager at a leading Yorkshire charity)
