The journey I have taken as an educator has exposed me to distinctively different organisations and culturally rich destinations around the world and given me a unique perspective of the learning process. I bring this background to the projects I develop, making them relevant and beneficial for all who participate.

From Switzerland

First-hand experience of promoting early learning skills

Early in my career, I was recruited by the International School of Geneva to work in its infant department…the first male to do so. It was in these dynamic surroundings, alongside a team of accomplished practitioners from all over the world, that I mastered the fundamental skills of teaching.

It was illuminating and gratifying to take responsibility for promoting language and literacy, numeracy, science and creative expression with children at the very beginning of their formal education.

Via Wiltshire

Responsibilities of educational leadership and management

My next post in Wiltshire gave me a first taste of leadership and management. Promotion followed quickly when I was appointed to the headship of a small village school in the same county that was under threat of closure. I was one of the youngest headteachers in the country and I had a big job on my hands. To change the fortunes of the school and give it a secure future, I adopted a holistic approach that included opening a nursery, re-designing the curriculum and incorporating some of the latest and best educational equipment at all levels. My objective was to create a nurturing but aspirational environment for all children that would be valued by the local community.
Decades later, the school is still thriving!

To Singapore

Projects in desktop publishing, sports events and theatre production

I was the founding Headteacher of the Senior School, Tanglin Trust School, Singapore…and prior to this, I was Head of Tanglin Junior School. Considered to be a world-leading British international school, Tanglin Trust School currently provides a British education in an international setting for over 3000 students aged 3-18.

As well as being a member of the Tanglin Trust School Management Team and leading the Senior School staff, I managed many notable extra-curricular projects. These included the design and editorship of the school magazine, organising and delivering major international multi-sports events with teams from all over South-East Asia and directing theatre shows.

And then Sheffield

Teaching excellence and inspiration

From 2008 until 2024, I taught in the Sheffield Business School at Sheffield Hallam University. My subject specialisms were in the fields of business design, business strategy, contemporary marketing and business research. I held module leaderships in all of these specialist areas. Heading up modules enabled me to produce banks of stimulating lecture and seminar materials, and to extend my management skills when co-ordinating the staff involved in module delivery.
